Bob Malkin

Bob was another Campus Life Leader, his long gray pony tail and full gray beard set him apart from some of the other leaders, that along with his wonderful personality. I watched him with his two daughters, and I hope I can have that kind of relationship with Alora in the future. It was Bob who said one of the most prolific things ever to me as a young dumb Christian.

We were at a McDonald’s doing a lunch break on a trip home with Campus life and one kid, we will call him Steve, was sitting off by himself. Steve was a bit of a geek and I thought he didn’t have anyone to sit with so I told him to come sit with me. He said he was fine and someone would be joining him and eventually someone did. But I wanted Steve to know he was welcome with me, and when I turned back around Bob was looking at me and said, “You know Jason, I really saw Jesus in you just then.” It has stuck with me for more than 12 years and meant a lot coming from Bob, who looked more like Jesus and most people I knew.
